Embrace the deep freeze: Think like a bee — Jan. 30-Feb. 5 on APN

Author Katherine May says we should take a lesson on "wintering" from the natural world. Animals get that life isn't just about the joys of summer — survival comes down to how you handle winter.

Bees especially, she notes, are like wintering machines. They spend the season buzzing in warm clusters, feasting on the honey stores they built up throughout the rest of the year. Sure, winter can be hard, but it can also replenish and build resilience.

So, as the mercury dips ever lower, take this quiet, cold opportunity to nuzzle in with these sweet, new listens from the APN hive. It may just do you good.

Wolf Moon Rising — The Week on APN — Jan. 23-29

As January comes to a close, we are treated to the first full moon of 2021 — the Wolf Moon — named so for the nightly howling often heard at this time of year.

Perhaps it's just that there are more dogs in the neighbourhood, but we're really feeling the full moon's effects these days. It's enough to inspire your own howling session. Take an evening stroll with this week's new pods from the pack at APN and howl along in your own way.
