Inspired by the feasts of Spring — The Latest on APN — April 23-29

With Ramadan ending in the coming days, we're taking inspiration from our Muslim friends around the world and getting set for a proper feast this weekend. Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the month-long fasting period on May 1-2, is often celebrated with sweet culinary delights — enough so that the occasion is sometimes referred to as the Sugar Feast of the Islamic calendar.

With that, we're setting a table of baklava, halwa, and dates to indulge on as the sun sets this Sunday night. This week's APN playlist is queued up for all your meals as you gather with family this weekend, too. Enjoy, and take care to brush your teeth after all that sugary goodness.

Accepting nature's pace (and April snowstorms) — The Latest on APN

Sigh. We all thought we were in the clear from winter until this week's freak slush storm blew through, but it's really not that freakish at all — it's easy to recall the white stuff falling into the May long weekend annually.
